Antonio Martínez González has been a lecturer on the Master’s Degree in Austrian Economics since the 2008/2009 academic year and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Economics I and Economic History and Institutions at Rey Juan Carlos University.
He holds a PhD in Economics and Business Administration from the National University of Distance Education (UNED), a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Complutense University of Madrid. He also has extensive postgraduate training, including an Executive MBA from IE Business School, awarded with the highest distinction (Merit A), a Master’s Degree in National Defence from CESEDEN, a Master’s Degree in European Communities and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science. This multidisciplinary background gives him a unique perspective on economic, technological and strategic analysis.
Within the Master’s Degree in Austrian Economics, he teaches the following subjects:
– Innovation and Technology in Market Processes
– The Defence and Private Security Sector as an Efficient Alternative to the Public Sector
Throughout his career, he has also taught Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Media Economics, Statistics, Econometrics and Defence Economics at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels. He has supervised numerous doctoral theses, Master’s dissertations and undergraduate final projects.
His main areas of research include:
– Defence and security economics
– Innovation, R&D&I and productivity
– Defence Technological and Industrial Base
– Determinants of defence expenditure
– Material and technological capital applied to security
– Theories of innovation from the perspective of the Austrian School
He has published in leading journals and with prestigious publishers, including Defence and Peace Economics, Economía Industrial, Revista de Economía Mundial, Procesos de Mercado and Hacienda Pública Española. He is the author of the monographs An Economic Analysis of the Production and Procurement of Defence Systems and Studies in Defence Economics, as well as numerous book chapters on technology, security and geostrategy.
He has participated as a speaker at prestigious national and international conferences, including the Annual Madrid Conference on Austrian Economics, the Security Studies Conferences organised by the General Gutiérrez Mellado Institute (UNED), and international conferences on economics and security. Since 2017, he has been a member of the Scientific and Organising Committee of the Annual Madrid Conference on Austrian Economics.
He has directed and participated in research projects funded by the Ministry of Defence, Rey Juan Carlos University, Banco Santander and the Jesús Huerta de Soto Foundation, including the “Francisco Villamartín” Chair in Defence Studies.
He has been Deputy Director of the journal Procesos de Mercado since 2014 and has been recognised as an Excellent Professor under the Docentia programme. His distinctions include the Cross of Military Merit with White Decoration, awarded in 2008, and the Francisco Villamartín Chair Research Award, received in 2015.
